The AvailableCar Trekkers complete the National 3 Peaks raising over £13,600 for Mind!
AvailableCar CEO, Michael Bell tasked his senior management team to take on a fundraising challenge to support the My Mission for Mind campaign, our partnering mental health charity, Mind.
On the 8th October Simon, Sarah, Dan & Richard headed up to Scotland ready to climb Ben Nevis, Scafel Pike & Snowden with the challenge to complete all 3 Peaks in 24 hours!
Starting at 7am on Saturday 9th October, the team approached Ben Nevis through heavy rain and hail!
The task ahead was to complete all three mountains in just under 14 hours, and with 10 hours travel time and on minimal sleep, the pace of walking to achieve this in the allocated time was a huge challenge!
But the team pulled together at times when they thought they couldn’t carry on and supported each other throughout.
Scafel Pike proved tricky for all! With conditions wet and dark crossing rivers and the clock ticking to complete in a short space of time! Some of the team had to turn back for safety reasons.
Snowden was an all-time favourite for all, starting at sunrise and being able to see the incredible views as they reached the summit with clear skies.
Richard achieved the challenge in allocated time of just under 14 hours, with Sarah, Dan & Simon not far behind!
Combined with the lack of sleep, energy, pace to achieve and weather conditions against them, this was such an incredible achievement for all the team.
The whole team really enjoyed testing their strength and ability. The experience was tough, but very rewarding for everyone taking part.
Collectively the team raised £6,810 with Michael Bell, AvailableCar CEO matching the funds raised! This equates to a grand total of £13,620 for the mental health charity, Mind.
A huge well done to the AvailableCar Trekkers Dan, Simon, Sarah and Richard on their fantastic achievement!
