AvailableCar support local primary school with donation to purchase 108 reading books
Orchard Primary School Parent & Teacher Association contacted AvailableCar requesting a donation for their summer raffle.
The school had been planning a summer fundraising event to enable the Early Years team to buy and replace new books to help some of their children who had been struggling with their reading. However, the pandemic had left them unable to reach their fundraising goal and they wondered if AvailableCar would like to help.
It was great to see the children enjoying reading their new books
Ofsted place a huge emphasis on the importance of early reading and providing books that support the children who struggle, especially for children in Year 2 and Key Stage 2 when the usual sequence of teaching phonics comes to an end.
Michael Bell, CEO of AvailableCar kindly donated £526 to the school which enabled the school to purchase 108 books for Early Years Foundation Stage (reception), Key Stage 1 & Key Stage 2.
Michael was visited by the children at AvailableCar Castle Donington
Michael Bell, CEO of AvailableCar said:’ I personally struggle with reading; suffering with Dyslexia myself, so when the school contacted us for a prize donation, I wanted to offer more to ensure that they had all of the tools and support that they needed. It was great to meet some of the children who have benefited from our support. They came down to our Castle Donington Store to say thank you and it was great be able hear them talk about their favourite books’.
Supporting our local community is so important to all the team at AvailableCar!
