Car supermarket giant AvailableCar have announced that they will be one of the official sponsors of the famous Mansfield Half Marathon for the next three years. The run, due to take place on the 6th July, is a real highlight for the region and raises thousands of pounds for charity, something which the whole team at AvailableCar car supermarket want to get involved with.

AvailableCar Chairman Mr Graham Bell is a keen runner and has taken part in various charity runs in the past. Only last year he completed the full Dublin marathon. He said: “AvailableCar is delighted to be an official sponsor of the Mansfield Half marathon. The business has a large team of employees and many like me are keen runners, so we thought it would be the ideal platform to not only help a charitable cause but also do something as a team as well.”

As well as offering financial backing for the run to take place, AvailableCar will be offering transport for organisers, plus branded items and goodies for all those completing the marathon on the big day.

Plans are already underway to get a whole team of AvailableCar employees from the company to run with Mr Bell and raise money. He continues: “We have promised to sponsor every employee who takes part with an extra reward for those who finish. We have a significant number signed up so far, which makes us confident that we will be able to raise enough funds to help charities in the local area.“

The venue for the race this year will be Berry Hill Park where runners will start on Berry Hill Lane just outside of the UDM offices and finishing 13.1 miles later on the running track inside the park.

The organisers have agreed a completely new course with the police, which is described as ‘challenging’ and incorporates some of the original route of the race held in the 80's and 90's.

The course can be described as very ‘undulating’ with several long downhill sections and some moderately steep inclines. Hopefully the race, which attracts more than 1000 runners, will be well attended with hundreds of people cheering them on to give them the boost to complete.

For those who want to take part but perhaps find thirteen miles a little daunting, the organisers have confirmed that the ‘family fun run’ will once again take place. This run, which is suitable for any age group, is a 1.7 mile course starting and finishing at Berry Hill Park.

Time is ticking now so the whole team at AvailableCar car supermarket are training hard to ensure that they not only keep up with their boss, but that they get plenty of funds raised for charity too.
