Cars over three years old must have an MOT test every year

To ensure that your car meets road safety and environmental standards, you must have an MOT done every year once your car is over three years old. Take your car for its MOT any time prior to the expiry date on the MOT certificate and if you are thinking of selling or part-exchanging your car, you must make sure the MOT is up-to-date.
If your car is still under three years old, try and take it for a test as soon as it’s three year period has finished, or ideally just before, to ensure it still meets all the legal requirements (please note however, that the MOT doesn’t act as a guarantee of the mechanical condition of the car).
Make sure that the garage you choose is an MOT certified tester, and ask to see their approved certificate or look for the blue ‘three triangles logo’. If you have any queries, or are unsatisfied with your MOT contact VOSA, (Vehicle and Operator Services Agency) on 0845 600 5977 who monitor the service-levels garages produce for MOT’s in the UK. All our cars come with MOT and full vehicle history checks – ask in-store for more information.
