Thousands are killed or injured each year in drink drive incidents
The Christmas message is always clear, ‘have a good time but don't drink and drive’. Yet every year millions of us watch the hard-hitting TV adverts put together by the Think! Road Safety Team. But still nearly 3000 people manage to either get killed or seriously injured every year in drink driving incidents and nearly one in six of all deaths on the road; involve drivers who are over the legal alcohol limit.
Drinking and driving occurs across a wide range of age groups but particularly young men aged 17-29 in both casualties and positive breath tests following a collision. The 2006 campaign was supported by a wide range of organisations including pubs, bars and retailers like ourselves.
The legal limit in the UK is 80 milligrams of alcohol in 100 millilitres of blood. But, there is no failsafe guide as to how much you can drink to stay under the limit. So, if you find yourself lucky enough to have a brand spanking new car this Christmas, (bought from AvailableCar of course) and you can’t resist driving, just remembering - DON'T DRINK.
Think, before you drink, before you drive!
