Changes in consumer credit laws

In 2004 The Department of Trade & Industry completed the first major review of the consumer credit laws (Consumer Credit Act (CCA) in over 30 years meaning customers are now treated more fairly.
The first change altered the way finance providers and car retailers advertised credit, both in point of sale leaflets and car retailer's adverts. There is no doubt that these changes have already had a wide impact on the car retail market and on anyone offering finance facilities.
The good news is that the second phase of these changes is now in force and provide the content of finance agreements, pre-contract information and early settlement calculation rules. These changes give you the customer a greater level of information, so that you can make informed decisions and compare different credit options ensuring you are never ripped off!
