Motorists too busy to replace tyres

Motorists too busy to replace tyres

According to a recent survey nearly a quarter of British motorists have knowingly driven on tyres that were at the legal minimum limit of 1.6mm because they were ‘too busy’ to have them replaced. Results also showed found that over a quarter of those continued to drive on the same tyres for at least a month.

Tyres at the minimum limit take eight metres further to stop a car on a wet road than those with 3mm of tread.

Driving on excessively worn tyres puts yourself and passengers at risk. Try to ensure you check your tyres at least one a month and don't forget the spare. Keep them inflated to pressures listed in your handbook and replace them when the tread depth reaches 2mm (even though the legal limit is 1.6mm).

Every nearly new and used car at AvailableCar is checked and every tyre is well in excess of 2mm tread depth.
